Laguna Guatavita is about 2 hours from Bogota, Colombia South America. The lagoon is  sacred by the indigenous people and it is the place where the myths  of Eldorado originated.
The lagoon is located in an old crater of a volcano and is surrounded by a thick vegetation and by mountains. The legend told that the indian chief let his full body covered in gold as part of a traditional ritual, and then was thrown into lake. For this reason many attempts have been made to get this gold from the bottom of the lake.
Serval artefacts like coins, emeralds, gold plates ect. had been found in this lake. These artefacts can be seen in the gold museum in Bogota.
