Quinoa y Amaranto the healthy alternative in Bogota
Quinoa y Amaranto is a healthy cooking restaurant in La Candelaria. The restaurant serves dishes with whole grains (quinoa, amaranth, brown rice), organic vegetables, vegetable protein (lentils, tofu), nuts (peanuts), spices and herbs.
The idea is to eliminate the foods with chemicals in order to provide a healthy diet. Two ancient whole grains from the Andes mountains gave the name to the restaurant: Quinoa and Amaranth. The first, because of its neutral flavor and versatility, and the second for use in soups and “coladas” (porridge).
The social worker, a consultant on environmental issues and now chef, Magdalena Baron wanted to return to revalue traditional meals and return to what is in harvest and therefore  fresh and of quality.
Preferred dishes are: Quinoa with vegetables, quinoa risotto and stuffed pies with this myself. The latter is an invention of the restaurant. Vegetarians and healthy food enthusiasts are welcome.
